Radio France: FIP

There’s nothing like getting some work done in a cafe, the music playing, with a latte and brownie within close reach... when two chit-chatters come in and plunk down beside you with their teas (so you know they’re in it for a while) and start jabbering on about some relationship gossip...

Though the reference library now allows you to bring in coffee, snack and the kitchen sink; you might have the misfortune of sitting beside university kids who glare at you when you turn a page or those chit-chatters might find their way back to you.

All to say, sometimes, there’s nothing like working at home. Especially, when you have a lovely window filled with plants to look out of, while you daydream.

Now, what to do about the issue of background music? While we were in France, we listened to really great internet radio. Unfortunately, this was a paid station, but it got me looking into French public radio, know as Radio France, and more particularly to their all music channels.

One of them is FIP (France Inter Paris), which plays a really vast array of music. The beauty is, it has no ads, only briefly and rarely has talking and plays snippets of the news from time to time. In this busy time, for those of us working from home or studying for exams, this is a nice way to discover music and also save a bundle!
