Vote!

Canada has been holding elections since 1792.

I woke up this morning to CBC radio 1 who were playing this video (song only, of course) and I could not help but laugh. I like initiatives like this one that take back media and use it to broadcast a point.

Presented by the group Colour of Poverty, who are still putting together a website but here's what they have so far: http://www.colourofpoverty.ca/. According to the CBC, the video where members are dressed in so-called "ethnic costumes" is in response to:
An email signed by a campaign worker for the Etobicoke Centre Conservative candidate said he was looking for people to create a "photo-op about all the multicultural groups that support Ted Opitz our local Conservative candidate and the Prime Minister."
Of course, don't be fooled that this sort of token race photo-ops doesn't happen with many of our political parties...(Read the full article here)

Election day!
The point is, everyone (18+) should vote. And whatever your strategy for voting, make sure you've taken the time to make sure you're available to get to the polls on May 2nd between 9AM and 9PM. Otherwise you can:
- mail in your ballot
- vote at the advanced polls (April 22nd, 23rd and 24th; Noon-8pm)
- vote at your local election office
(for more information, check it out here)
Make sure to bring ID (driver's license  or  passport + an official letter e. g. bill  or  a person who can swear you're who you say you are who has one of the first two)

CBC also has some interesting interactive media:
Vote Compass
A series of questions that help you know on what issues you align with which parties. Of course it shouldn't tell you exactly who to vote for, because you should also consider the integrity of your candidate and the specific needs of your community. But all and all, it's fun! See it here.

Check out the results of the last election, though it lacks information about the candidates, it's visually very smooth. See it here.
